The Spaulding Meadows Trail in Juneau, Alaska, offers a scenic, often muddy, 5-mile (approx.) round-trip hike to high-elevation meadows and the historic John Muir cabin. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, this trail is great for cross-country skiing, hiking, and running, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
